Lumify Eye Drops

Lumify is the first “get the red out” drop that we recommend. Having red, “bloodshot,” eyes temporarily is very common. The small blood vessels on the surface of the eye can expand when irritated and cause the white of the eye to appear more pink or red.

The other drops in this category (Visine, Naphcon-A, Opcon-A, Clear Eyes) use a decongestant that temporarily reduces swelling, however can also irritate the eye and commonly leads to a rebound redness that is often worse than before. This can cause a vicious cycle where patients use the drops more and more.

Lumify uses a newer decongestant that also reduces swelling, but has a lower risk of rebound redness.

• Put one drop in the affected eye(s) every 6–8 hours
• Do not use more than four times a day
• Remove contact lenses before use
• Wait at least 10 minutes before re-inserting contact lenses after use
